At Siemer Milling Company, World Flour Day holds special significance for us. This year’s theme, “Feeding the world starts with feeding your community. Let your actions speak!” resonates deeply with our longstanding commitment to local service and sustainability.
The Power of Local Impact
For over 140 years, we’ve understood that global change begins in our own backyard. While flour might seem like a simple ingredient, it represents the foundation of food security for communities everywhere. From the family baker creating memories in their kitchen to the local restaurants serving comfort food, flour connects us all.
Our mills in Illinois, Kentucky, and Indiana don’t just produce flour—they create economic stability for local farmers, employ community members, and contribute to regional food systems that feed thousands of families daily.
Putting Our Values into Action
For Siemer Milling, World Flour Day isn’t just about celebration—it’s about recommitting to our core values through tangible action. This year, we’re proud to have donated boxes of Swan’s Down Cake Flour to local food pantries across all three communities where our mills operate:
- In Teutopolis, Illinois: Catholic Charities Food Pantry and St. John’s Lutheran Food Pantry
- In Hopkinsville, Kentucky: Micah Mission and Aaron McNeil House
- In West Harrison, Indiana: Sunman Food Pantry and North Dearborn Food Pantry
As Amanda Rieman, one of our dedicated employees involved in the donation, shared, “I’m pleased to get to help celebrate World Flour Day by feeding our communities! Thank you to all of the volunteers leading these food pantries and SMC employees for making a nutritious, budget friendly food product!”
These donations represent our belief that flour is key to nutrition, because it’s an affordable, available source of food energy that everyone needs.
At Siemer Milling Company, we believe that feeding the world truly does start with feeding your community. Today and every day, we’re proud to put that belief into action through the quality flour we produce, the relationships we nurture, and the direct support we provide to those in need.
Happy World Flour Day from our Siemer Milling family to yours!
